Winners Football Center has proudly launched the first edition of ‘EDUSPORTS’ program in strategic partnership with The Ministry of Youth & Sports and Tamkeen.
As part of his efforts towards benefiting the athletic community in Bahrain, His Highness Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa announced the launch of EduSports program in April 2018 and directed Winners Football Center to manage this program. Winners Football Center partnered up with The Ministry of Youth & Sports and Tamkeen to support this project.
The team behind Winners noticed a wide gap in the sports industry in Bahrain. The Bahraini sports industry loses many athletes as they discontinue their careers in sports due to the their academic performance. EduSports program will bridge this gap by giving talented athletes the opportunity to pursue their athletic careers and their education simultaneously at very high standards. The exposure students will have on this scholarship will greatly improve their social skills, encourage personal growth and provide unique athletic opportunities.
EduSports program provides young boys and girls between the ages of 15 and 21 with football scholarships to the United States of America. This program aims to mold young talented student athletes to follow their passion for football, enhance their technical skills and pursue their education simultaneously at exceptional standards.
We have partnered up with First Point USA which is the world’s leading authority in American sports scholarships since 2001. They became one of the first sports scholarship agencies to be approved and certified by the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletics Association).
First Point USA sends 500 students to the United States every year and provides them with access to over 5000 universities across America. They also guarantee that students will receive a high quality education and be provided with high standards of accommodation and overall care.
It is important to differentiate between becoming a professional athlete and securing a sports scholarship.
A professional athlete makes their living by competing in sporting competitions. In other words, they get paid to be athletes. However, securing a sports scholarship does not include a salary to train. Even when a sports scholarship can pay for the cost of earning a university degree, you do not attend university solely to play your sport. Students with sports scholarships must be working towards a university degree in any field offered by the university.
When considering who to offer scholarships to, we evaluate several important factors, such as – sporting ability & potential, academic results, commitment, attitude and family support.
The process of gaining a sports scholarship is as follows:
We work with over 2,500 American colleges & universities covering all 50 US states; ranging from Harvard to UCLA. We have worked with each of these universities and colleges and have developed a strong relationship with the institutions along the process.
Pursuing the opportunity of a sports scholarship is possible, yet highly unlikely given how difficult and challenging the process can be. However, if you apply for a sports scholarship through us, after paying a fee for our services, we would handle all aspects of the scholarship process on your behalf.
Our fees are a one-time fee payment of around 1,500 BHD which entitles our athletes to a service that lasts for approx 5 years. The first year’s focus is on securing scholarship deals followed by providing mentoring and support to the athlete during their time in America.
